I work in the marketing industry as a graphic designer and was looking for a way to combine my interest in design, writing and photography to communicate about my favorite subject — food. Blogging was the perfect way to do this. I began with the presumption that no one would ever find or care about my humble corner of the blog world. But through Social Media, I have connected with a lot of encouraging readers who have helped my audience grow. I will continue to work to make this site more accessible and more interesting to an even greater number of people.
90% of the photography on this site is mine. Occasionally my husband will help me capture a moment. Very occasionally I will purchase the rights to a particular photo.
I use a Canon EOS Rebel Xsi and a 50 mm Canon lens.
I am passionate about food and have been cooking all of my life. So much so that I am now studying professional cooking in culinary school. My desire is to be able to provide opinions on restaurants with some culinary perspective. I also want to be able to share recipes on this site with some authority. I don’t believe you need culinary training to run a successful food blog, but I do believe it makes this particular food blog unique.
No, I do restaurant impressions. There’s a distinct difference between what I do and what a reviewer does. They typically visit an establishment at least 3 times before they do a write up. They also take copious notes while they’re eating. While I generally do visit each restaurant more than once, I don’t always — especially if I have an unfavorable experience. My write ups are full of emotional reactions. They are impressions on food, presentation, ambiance, service and price. I write them with the intent of being helpful to other diners who are looking to find a good meal or who are looking to avoid a bad one.
I run this blog alone and, like a lot of people, I have a lot of work/school/family obligations. So, I don’t have time to scrutinize every grammatical detail. That being said, sometimes I cringe when I reread old posts and notice poor sentence structure or tense changes. If you see an error, I appreciate constructive corrections because they help make this blog better. Hopefully, you will be able to read through my entries with the same casual mindset that I have when I write them.
