I’m just a German girl who pretends I’m Italian most of the time, but right now I’m all French. I’m listening to Eartha Kitt sing “C’est si bon” while fantasizing about my breakfast this morning at Annabel’s.
If you haven’t been there, close your eyes and imagine a small, french cafe in Paris. Scrummy little pastry items decorate the back counter, which is lined with twinkle lights. Travel photos hang on the walls. Small bistro tables are decorated with white napkins and miniature salt and pepper shakers. And the big windows that span the front look out onto Mount Lookout Square.
The breakfast sandwich (which is the best breakfast sandwich in the world) is a piping hot packet of heaven. A golden, buttery french croissant is toasted ever so slightly to withstand the weight of sausage, slightly runny eggs, cheese, spinach and onion.
Oh, and roasted tomato sauce. Don’t forget this stuff because it’s the magic ingredient. It adds a touch of moisture and a whole lot of concentrated flavor. And the coffee is freshly roasted Lookout Joe brew, which makes me feel local and ever so warm and toasty inside.
This morning, even the patrons looked french. Love this guy with his big white scarf and black sweater.
Care to join me in Paris? Listen with me.

I am trying this, STAT!
Well you should! Thanks for finding my humble little blog. It’s a better place now that you’ve joined the mix.
Wow, this looks amazing. I’m a huge sucker for breakfast sandwiches and this looks/sounds top-notch. BTW, I’d be lying if I said I never rocked the black sweater with white scarf combination.
All of the food there is unbelievable and made with utmost care and skill. Sweatshirts and jeans acceptable, but you get bonus points from me for looking snazzy.
Keep posting stuff like this i really like it
courtney, i finally tried this (i know, i know) sandwich yesterday. so much for STAT! while it was delish, i think you and dustin would thoroughly enjoy a beatiful fall day trip to the winds restaurant in downtown yellow springs. i must say i am partial to the winds egg sandwich. anyways, eric and i also split a chocolate torte, and it was A-MAZING!
